The Cheshire Group of The British Chelonia Group (B.C.G.) are proud to present the 15th Cheshire Tortoise Day. The day emphasizes educational and veterinary aspects of chelonian keeping and is an open invitation to all tortoise enthusiasts, vets, zoo keepers, conservation professionals and families. They can learn and share their own experiences with experts on hand from the B.C.G. for advice and help. This year we are pleased to be joined by the Reaseheath Herpetological and Entomological Society. VetArk Professional will be providing health and hygiene products used on the health check area.

Visitors to the event can enjoy various exhibits and stands. In the hall there will be species of chelonia on display along with various reptiles, invertebrates and products available from Urban Jungle Exotics in Manchester. New and exciting stands will have fossils, minerals, tortoise food plants, quality crafts and gifts for sale, many with a tortoise theme. Pet portraits and  Many Tears dog accessories will  also show case their products and  Cheshire Waste Reduction will offer advice and free gifts. There will be old favourites returning by popular demand such as The British Cactus and Succulent Society (Macclesfield Branch) and of course the tombola and competitions for children. Launching for next year will be the ultimate fund raising  2017 tortoise calendar titled  ‘Ladies of Cheshire come out of their shells’ already proving to be a sell out  Xmas gift. Main sponsors of this year’s event are Exotic Direct Chelonia  insurance,  Barclays Bank and Cheshire Life magazine. Outdoors will be the Feathery Folk live owl display offering information on birds of prey.  Light refreshments are available in the tea room serving the now famous bacon baps.
Funds raised on the day support BCG tortoise, terrapin and sea turtle conservation projects worldwide. If you are unable to join us on June 11th, and would like further information on joining the British Chelonia Group visit wwwbritishcheloniagroup.org.uk
