The Gerneral Appeal run for 2021 in support of both Conservation Centres and Projects hit by the Covid 19 Pandemic was well supported and has enabled the BCG to make some very useful contributions to projects and rescue missions whihc otherwise could not have survived easily.

Grants were issued to Exeter University towards a sea turtle project in Turkey and to Medasset towards the preservation of a sea turtle report to the Bern Convention.

A support grant was issued for the building of a heated incubation room for the endangered Asian Brown Tortoise (Manouria emys paherie) in North-Eastern India and the victims of the Wild Fires in Southern France, the Hermann's Tortoises which were looked after at the veterinary hospital at thew Tortoise village (SOPTOM) in France, received a generous donation as well.

Many in situ conservation projects have still not re-started as they rely on academics and voluteers having to travel and Covid restrictions are still having a travel impact. The BCG would therefore like to extend the General Appeal for 2022 so grants and donations can be made immediately to those projects and conservation cenres requiring help.
